To be fair , the two ladies from history escaped me , I just couldnâ??t get my head around them...then came the master, once again a great job , the even better job came at the end with that vital explanation of the Gallifreyan situation.....and Jodie sold it beautifully ...this season is shaping up nicely

7.8 Sonics out of 10

I agree. The first episode set everything up well but it failed to deliver in my opinion. Too much going on. And Gallifrey burning again? Seriously? This series seems to be heading down the overcomplicated Moffat path- instead of last seasons beautiful simplicity. 3/5

A not too bad a start to Season 12. I was saying a little prayer that, when the Doctor is sent to The Dark Place & we never see the true form of the glowing aliens, that they may have been revealed to be the 456 aliens from Torchwood: Children of Earth. Given that they seemed to have an extradimensional feel, rather than extraterrestrial, The Dark Place looked like it could be a part of their realm or home dimension.

Good to see Gallifrey make a return appearance, though.

An engrossing double episode I thought.

Excellent characterisation of The Master by Sacha Dhawan who was the most significant figure in the show in my view.

Jodie looked a bit weak in comparison I thought.

Anyway, I hope the standard keeps up. The revelation about Gallifrey will permeate the series I expect.

The ladies were more feminist social commentary I'm afraid. Just there for "wokes" rather than playing any vital part in the story.

The aliens look like a silhouette of David Bowie in the clown suit in the video clip of Ashes to Ashes

There's an obvious question to be asked, when the Master says "when did you last go back to Gallefry?" WHEN has no real meaning to a Time Lord!

I thought the hand grenade was great, and the thing I noticed,.But I got quite a Scare though when all that information , records
, and mass information, was talked about , no more pushing I agree

I thought Gallimaufry couldn't be found as Missy gave the Dr the coordinate because he couldn't find it anymore ,in one of the previous episodes

Scary but true, how much of our personal information the maga IT companies have got, and what they use it for.

Refer back to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Governments probably keep these sort of people in business to spy on us.

Not the best episode(s) ever but most certainly not the worst either. The whole Master thing makes little sense because if Missy came after the Harold Saxon version and he shot her in the back and ensured she could not regenerate, where does this Master come from? I had suggested to Mum (who as usual watched with me) that perhaps this Master is from between Harold and Missy (as Missy was vague on the issue) or before Professor Yana, or that as in previous incarnations it is a stolen body (think Tremas and Bruce the paramedic). Gallifrey also does not compute - we know from Heaven Sent/Hell Bent that Gallifrey was intact, in the real universe and hiding at the end of time - so how is it now in this time zone and destroyed (though the Master implied it was him because he found out a truth of Gallifrey that ticked him off). Anyway I enjoyed the pace and the pulling together of seemingly unrelated people/topics. Still not a fan of the current Doctor or her "fam" (in fact she is probably my least or equal least favourite Doctor), but at least some of the stories are interesting. In all I would rate both Spyfall's (I lumped them together because they are part 1 and 2) 3/5.
