After the aboslutely mind-boggling plot of the previous series, one can only hope that the next series calms the waters and presents us with a more linear story line.
'This is what we can expect' says current showrunner Steven Moffat, who promises (though his promises must always be taken with a grain of salt!) that we will actually be able to understand what is going on without re-watching episodes several times. 'Series 7 will have less of an over-arching storyline,' he says.
While there is no doubt that the Silence will continue to feature in coming years, it will be nice to have a return to the 'original' Who format, with the Doctor combating evil from the shadows. Complementing this trend, several classic monsters are rumoured to be returning, such as the fan-favourite Zygons and Ice Warriors.
Unfortunately, not all news is good news. For those fans of Amy and Rory, prepare to say goodbye to them as they leave in a 'shocking, surprising and heartbreaking way' - only to make way for the new companion, someone who the Doctor will meet in the last place he could ever expect.
But that's all in the future. All we can do now is to wait and see what developments occur. We know that Spain is standing in for the Wild West in Toby Whithouse's episode, and that Mark 'Mr Weasley' Williams may be playing Rory's dad. And then there's Sophia Myles visiting Spain at the same time the production team is filming there...
In the meantime, let's all sit down and watch the re-runs of Tennant's final series, or if that's not your cup of tea, dig out those Tom Baker episodes and watch the very best of classic Who.
Until next time...
