New Look ABC WHOVIANS

ABC WHOVIANS has regenerated!
Welcome to the new look ABC WHOVIANS!
Here are some of the main changes:
- New Logo. After over 18 months we have retired the former logo for a fresh new one
- Light Background. After consultation with the membership earlier this year we have decided to switch the site to a light background with dark text. Many will find this much easier to read than previously.
- No Sidebar. This makes the site look less cluttered and easier to view on mobile devices. Items previously found in the side bar can now be found in the site footer.
- Simplified Navigation Bar. Many pages previously located in the navigation bar are now grouped together under a main heading in the top navigation bar. For example the "Members" page and "Who are We?" page are now in a sub menu below the "About Us" heading.
- Facebook. ABC WHOVIANS now has a facebook page. If you're on Facebook, give us a like! Visit our page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ABC-Whovians/283865171793285?fref=ts
- Administration. The site is now served by three Admins- Patch, SonicR and myself (SM). Please contact any of us if you need assistance.
While i have spent considerable time in trying to make sure the new look site was complete before publishing, there will no doubt be some teething problems. If you experience any problems please let me know by emailing me via my profile page or by posting a message on our Facebook page.
While the default colour of text in the forums will change to suit the new light background, where a member has manually changed the colour of their text in a post it will remain that colour. This may make it difficult to view some older forum posts.
I hope you like the new site, and enjoy the return of Doctor Who tomorrow night!

Congratulations on all your hard work, SM. The result is much clearer and very professional. I do not use Facebook so will not be joining you there, nor am I a Dr. Who fan but I shall continue to enjoy any items to which I can relate. One notable improvement is the appearance of local times of comment entry, requiring no calculation.

a refreshing new look to the site. What I'm missing, or just haven't found yet:
a) How to access the latest post in a forum in one click. Looks like we're back to selecting the forum then clicking on the last page numbered.
b) I miss the sidebar. Made it easy to move through the latest remarks. Easy enough I suppose to click back to forum home, payoff looks like bigger type.

Earle, you just need to scroll down to the bottom, in the middle of the page are the latest posts.
A slight correction to my previous comment re the time of entries. They are still some hours behind the actual time posted, although not as many.

Thanks for your feedback Gusset. If you are logged into the site the time should display correctly. In the "Members Area" at the bottom of the page click on "Edit Profile" then click on the "Edit Account" tab. Then make sure you have your time zone selected correctly. Then press the "Submit" button down the bottom. If that doesn't work please let me know.

Hi Sir Earle, the recent forum posts are located at the bottom of each page in the footer. Unfortunately the new site template I am using does not allow for side bars on the forum page- I could have kept one on the home page but opted to put all the information at the bottom of the page instead. And, unfortunately the forum page links you only to the 1st page of each thread, I am not able to change it. You have to manually select the last page once you are in the thread or if the topic you want is in the Recent Forum Posts list at the bottom of the page- that link will take you to the most recent page commented on.

One suggestion SM. When you look at a page of posts they all run together as one block and it's possible to miss one or two. Is it possible to have each post surrounded by a border, just a simple rounded rectangle would do to delineate each post.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed about that. I'll see whether I can do something about it
