Headline in today’s SMH

“ In his attack on Streep, Trump just lied about lying about a lie “

Don’t worry about the article, the headline says it all.

It looks like a number of SMH readers agree.

Arise Sir Tony, the mother country wants you back!

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott has urged the UK and Australia to strive for a one-page free trade agreement once Britain is no longer constrained by the “statism and bureaucracy of Brussels”.

In a foreword written for a report by the UK’s Free Enterprise Group, Abbott says “Brexit means that Britain is back” and he calls for the movement of goods between the UK and Australia to be “absolutely free of tariffs or quotas”.

The report by the Conservative MP James Cleverly and Tim Hewish was released on Tuesday and argues that Britain should leave the European Customs Union and embrace Commonwealth trade.

Of course readers of the Guardian have supplied us with a number of witty comments about Tony’s adventures in the UK.   ;)

We can't give nutters like Nigel Farage free entry to Australia.  We have to have some standards. :)

I think Farage is more likely to want to move to USA instead (at least until Trump grows tired of him and starts sending insulting tweets).

Sasha Obama missed her father's final speech as President because of an exam.

Now if Sasha was a Trump offspring she'd hire someone else to sit the exam.   :P

An Australia Day billboard featuring two women in hijabs has been removed from a site in Melbourne after threats were made to the company behind it.

The digital sign featured rolling images of people from various cultural backgrounds, and one picture of two Muslim women in front of the Australian flag sparked furious debate among social media users.

Hundreds of people criticised the image for being “too politically correct” or not a true reflection of Australia Day.

If this digital sign “featured rolling images of people from various cultural backgrounds” how could it be “too politically correct” ?

Controversial Melbourne evangelical church Catch the Fire, which solicits donations for the Rise Up Australia Party, has had its charitable status revoked by authorities.

The ministries, based in the south-eastern suburbs, have been run by Sri Lankan born pastor Daniel Nalliah since the late 1990s.

Mr Nalliah launched the Rise up Australia party in 2013 on an anti-Islam, anti-multiculturalism platform and fielded candidates at last year's federal election.

He openly preaches his political message from the pulpit and collects donations for the party at church services.

As a registered charity, Catch the Fire had access to Commonwealth tax concessions including GST waivers, income tax exemptions and fringe benefit tax rebates.

Who said that Religion & Politics don't mix.

Frankly, I'd have no problem if all religious organisations were made to pay tax.

What a bunch of crawlers. Trump would care less about them than he does about climate change. They are nobodies in the US, and not much better here.

Lego crime wave hits Melbourne: Police ask for help to catch brick-obsessed thief.

Melbourne, the most liveable city in the world, is in the midst of a Lego crime wave.

Police across town are investigating a series of thefts of the little toy bricks that cause so much pain underfoot.

Just last week, three toy shops in the eastern suburbs were hit.

Before that, in November, a man and woman used a van with stolen plates to ram-raid a shopfront in Coburg North and steal a one-metre high Lego ninja.

The Lego-loving thieves have Victoria Police working overtime.

Guess who wasn’t allowed to have Lego when they were kids.   :P

This is a National Disgrace !

Centrelink is deliberately ripping-off thousands of Australians caught up in its data matching "robo-debt" program, with managers telling public servants at the agency to enforce debts they know are bogus, according to explosive new claims.

The serious allegations have emerged as a second Liberal backbench senator breaks ranks and criticises the data matching effort which the government hopes will add $4.5 billion to the budget bottom line.

Another whistle-blower has come forward with an insider's account of how the "debts" are being pursued, alleging that glaring errors are deliberately ignored by Centrelink to allow it to extract money from its clients while others are being told they must repay "fictitious payments".

Well if it's happening then that's fraud or  false pretences or demanding money with menaces.

I can't see how the Minister can survive this sort of scandal. The buck stops with him.
