One Nation pestered Australian embassy officials for Trump inauguration tickets.

Pauline Hanson's One Nation party scored tickets to Donald Trump's inauguration only after continued pestering from its Queensland senator Malcolm Roberts, it has been revealed.

Of course "Tinfoil" was the pest !

I just had a terrible vision in my head.

Malcolm “Tinfoil” Roberts walking out of the airport, hands raised above his head screaming

“ we'll make Australia great again”  :(

He's more likely to do an expanded version, just like Trump:

Together, We [One Nation] will make Australia strong again.

We will make Australia wealthy again [more coal mines].

We will make Australia proud [racist] again.

We will make Australia safe again [get rid of all mosques and halal food].

And yes, together, we will make Australia great again. Thank you. God bless you. And God bless Australia [we are a Christian nation].

Do you have empirical evidence to back that up?   ;)

Barnaby Joyce spent more than $18,000 of taxpayer funds travelling to Armidale and Tamworth when he was a Queensland senator preparing to jump to the lower house seat of New England, where the two New South Wales cities are located.

In March 2016, Joyce also used a VIP airforce jet for himself and four staff to fly from Tamworth to Canberra, returning from a televised debate against his New England opponent, the independent MP Tony Windsor.

The revelations are contained in Joyce’s 2013 expense declarations to the Department of Finance and a Department of Defence document produced under freedom of information laws, seen by Guardian Australia.

Poor Tony Windsor faced some expensive opposition didn't he.

I still say the voters of New England got it wrong (big time) !

Surely these were party matters, not government ones. The fact Barnaby Joyce was a government minister had nothing to do with them.

Did you see Trump's press secretary Sean Spicer ripping into the media?

It was his first conference since Trump was sworn in, he came across like a cranky headmaster over reacting to a minor prank.

Spicer didn't answer any question following his rant.

This would be Dr Goebbels worries me, it looks like Trump wants to bully the press into submission.  :(

I'm not sure I'm interested in what Trump or his staff do unless it affects us in some way, like declaring war on China.

I think Trump will make Americans realise what a good President they had in Obama, dignified and laid back, not taking himself too seriously, in contrast to a ranting megalomaniac.

I think we're going to be in for an interesting ride for the next four years, far more entertaining than Australian politics. If Trump survives 4 years in the Oval Office, he's likely to have one of the biggest falls from grace of any US president because he will be unable to deliver on most (all?) of his promises and the cost of living will go up substantially.

In Donald Trump’s world he doesn’t tell lies, he uses 'alternative facts'

Reminds me of a dodgy sales guy that I worked with many years ago, he created an alternative reality for his victims.

He ending up doing time for fraud, 5 years if I recall correctly.

There are a huge number of Guardian reader’s comments.

Iceland knows how to stop teen substance abuse - but the rest of the world isn’t listening.

I recommend this very interesting article.

The subject matter reminds me of a piece of often repeated graffiti:

“ I said No to Drugs, but they wouldn’t listen “

More disappointment from the NBN.   :|

The company running the National Broadband Network has stripped information from its website that allowed Australians to see which type of broadband technology is expected to be delivered to their street.

The website, updated in the days before Christmas, now provides information about when the NBN is expected to be available in various suburbs but not which technology they are scheduled to receive under the Coalition's "multi-technology mix" model.

Typical Conservatives, treating the public like mushrooms, and we know what that means.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  Donald Trump is stark raving mad!

I'd love to have seen Peter Dutton's face when he was told about the Great Escape.

A young Iranian refugee who was held on Manus Island for more than three years has fled to Fiji, where he is seeking asylum on the grounds he fears persecution if he goes back to Papua New Guinea.

"This is the end for me," said Loghman Sawari, whose time in PNG has been punctuated by beatings, bullying, imprisonment, illness, suicide attempts and living on the street in Lae, one of the country's most dangerous cities.

The 21-year-old Ahwazi Arab managed to board a plane under a false name after he said he was threatened by a PNG immigration official and lost hope of being resettled in the United States under President Donald Trump.

This is the first case where a refugee who sought asylum from Australia is claiming to be fleeing persecution by a country connected to the Coalition's deliberately harsh "stop the boats" policy.

Scott Morrison says Trump travel ban shows 'world is catching up' to Australia.

Scott Morrison has declined to criticise Donald Trump’s contentious travel ban, saying it is up to the United States to determine its border control arrangements, and noting the rest of the world is now “catching up” with Australia’s harsh deterrence policies.

Morrison, a former immigration minister, suggested to Sydney radio host Ray Hadley he empathised with the US president Donald Trump, who is facing a fierce backlash against his controversial executive order banning travel to the US from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Catching up my arse, heading back to the dark ages is more like it!
