Scott Morrison says Trump travel ban shows 'world is catching up' to Australia.

Scott Morrison has declined to criticise Donald Trump’s contentious travel ban, saying it is up to the United States to determine its border control arrangements, and noting the rest of the world is now “catching up” with Australia’s harsh deterrence policies.

Morrison, a former immigration minister, suggested to Sydney radio host Ray Hadley he empathised with the US president Donald Trump, who is facing a fierce backlash against his controversial executive order banning travel to the US from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Catching up my arse, heading back to the dark ages is more like it!

Arrrrrrrggggghhhhh! Over it.

All of us sane people are "Over It" Patch, but "It" is too evil to ignore !

Treasurer Scott Morrison will not rule out using money set aside in the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) to fund a new generation of coal-fired power stations.

Mr Morrison's statement came after Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull claimed Australia had an obligation to be at the forefront of coal technology.

How many times do they need to be told “clean coal” is a myth, it will never be commercially viable!

Never mind what Alan Jones or Andrew Bolt tells you.

The LNP supports the Coal Industry because their mates in big business own coal mines.

Trump Moves to Roll Back Obama-Era Financial Regulations (from the New York Times).

President Trump on Friday moved to chisel away at the Obama administration’s legacy on financial regulation, announcing steps to revisit the rules enacted after the 2008 financial crisis and to back away from a measure intended to protect consumers from bad investment advice.

After a White House meeting with executives from Wall Street, Mr. Trump signed a directive aimed at the Dodd-Frank Act, crafted by the Obama administration and passed by Congress in response to the 2008 meltdown.

He also signed a memorandum that paves the way for reversing a policy, known as the fiduciary rule, that requires brokers to act in a client’s best interest, rather than seek the highest profits for themselves, when providing retirement advice.

And there is more …..............

Recommend reading in the Guardian, Nick Cohen writes:

Trump’s lies are not the problem. It’s the millions who swallow them who really matter.

Compulsive liars shouldn’t frighten you. They can harm no one, if no one listens to them. Compulsive believers, on the other hand: they should terrify you.

Believers are the liars’ enablers. Their votes give the demagogue his power. Their trust turns the charlatan into the president. Their credulity ensures that the propaganda of half-calculating and half-mad fanatics has the power to change the world.

Dear Malcolm, this piece from the Guardian’s Kathrine Murphy may cheer you up:

“ A conservatives split from the Liberals would free the party to be truly liberal “

So go and tell Corry and his neo-fascist to F*** Off !

Bernadi going will split the Liberal vote just as the Greens have split the Labor vote.

It's going to be harder for either major Party to win an election, with governmental instability existing for a long way into the future.

Is that a good thing ? Yes and no. It may make them work harder to get our votes but it probably means that there won't be much of good policy for a while because people will be too afraid of upsetting the splinter groups.

Making sacrifices ?

The parliamentary perk that gives retired politicians free business-class travel on the taxpayer will be immediately scrapped under a new plank of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's crackdown on the political entitlements system.

Special Minister of State Scott Ryan will announce details of the Life Gold Pass' demise at a press conference on Tuesday.

The Life Gold Pass once offered former MPs unlimited travel at taxpayers' expense.

About time if you ask me !

Quote of the day comes from a Guardian reader responding to the Cory Bernardi defection.

“He has to be joking. What can a god bothering poofter bashing member of Opus Dei possibly offer the people of Australia. If he can't change the neocon economic agenda he can't help anybody. “

The dumbing down of our ABC continues.

Managing Director Michelle Guthrie has recently appointed a former Foxtel person .

According to the Guardian:

The Foxtel executive Josie Mason-Campbell, whose claims to fame include Gogglebox Australia, The Great Australian Bake Off and Coast Australia, was appointed head of non-scripted production. The role will see her taking responsibility for all factual, entertainment, arts and events programming. “Josie is a natural creative leader, who has thrived in the industry,” Guthrie said. “We are looking forward to her helping the ABC create more great Australian shows that resonate with a broad audience.”

That’s an impressive CV……….. NOT !

Judging by Newton's Law last night, the dumbing down is well underway.

If the "great shows" the newie will create are anything like the pilot shows we were offered during the off season, like the Katering Show, I'll be skipping  them.  They seemed rubbish to me, the little I could tolerate of them.

Michelle and Josie should return to their more comfortable milieu ASAP.

Sorry I can't read the readers' comments.
