US Senator Bernie Sanders on Sunday called President Donald Trump a "pathological liar," while Senator Al Franken reiterated that "a few" Republican senators are concerned about the President's mental health.

The strong words from two high-profile senators came as Democrats attacked Trump's travel ban and said that members of his administration should be investigated or have security clearances suspended for recent comments or conversations with Russian officials.

I have no reason to disagree with those gentlemen.  :|

Sounds like blackmail to me.

Why don't they pay for their corporate tax cuts by cutting subsidies like the diesel fuel rebate ?

The SMH’s Neil McMahon comments on the heated Q&A debate between Jacqui Lambie and Yassmin Abdel-Magied.

Q&A had one of its most bracing confrontations on Monday night - Jacqui Lambie in an hour-long brawl with her natural urge to leap from the chair and sing We Don't Need Another Hero.

There was also a pretty willing blue between the senator from Tasmania and a fellow panellist whose mistake was to publicly explore the popular theory that Jacqui Lambie gives two-bob watches a bad name.

I assume that Neil is not a huge Jacqui fan.

Jacquie is a complex personality.

She's got the wromng idea on climate change and energy, she is probably right about Sharia Law, and she stands up for little people.

There are things to like about her and things to not like, but no one is perfect.

Jacqui Lambie needs to do some home work on issues like climate change.

Last night Jacqui sounded like she has been listening to Andrew Bolt.

I think her main problem is that she treats everything with simplicity, as black or white.  She also does not tolerate people who have views that are different to hers. Her views are based on her own world experiences, which in a way is good because they are different to the experiences of most other politicians, but she also needs to listen and accept that there are some other views which are equally or more valid than hers.

Here is something to cheer you up.

The Guardian’s Dom Knight takes a tongue in cheek look at the new look “sophisticated” One Nation party.

For example:

“Hanson once famously asked “please explain” but now she has the explanatory force that is Malcolm Roberts, who can discredit global warming in such a way that even Prof Brian Cox was left gasping in what one can only presume was awe.”

I think Trump is "instinctively correct" in answering questions by friendly journalists only.  Non-friendly journalists always produce fake news and ignore or make fun of alternative facts.   ;)

ABC boss Michelle Guthrie aims to save millions by taking axe to management.

ABC sources said the plan to "take a scythe" to the broadcaster's layers of management could eventually save up to $50 million a year when fully implemented.

The savings would be invested in original television and radio programming and to further deepen the ABC's push into mobile and digital platforms.

"We are talking big savings," one source familiar with the plans said.

Will those cuts be confined to middle management or will they spread further?

Is the ABC being set up for sale to Murdoch?   :/

Senator John McCain has warned that suppression of a free press is “how dictators get started”, criticizing Donald Trump’s continued declarations that newspapers and news networks are “the enemy of the American people”.

“I hate the press,” McCain told NBC’s Meet the Press in an interview, taped at a security conference with European leaders in Munich.. “But the fact is we need you. We need a free press. We must have it.”

I’m glad that Senator McCain has said something, I hope enough of the US population is listening.  :|
