Australian science fiction authors feel let down by local publishers.

While the overall Australian publishing scene is robust, Australian science fiction writers believe their work is not being adequately supported by the industry.

This article reports that US publishers are taking Australia Sci-Fi books:

"The American publisher wasn't worried about it being Australian. I was not made to change anything except for the spelling."

Don’t these Oz publishers realise they could have the next Douglas Adams knocking at their door?

From books to Doctor Who scripts, what else could an author dream of?  8)

I think Hanson will go the same way as Palmer. She certainly doesn't have Palmer's money behind her, but the major Parties really have to look at why she is so popular , and find a way to ridicule her ideology otherwise she will keep getting support.

I think the criticism from her own candidates, and subsequent defection, will be enough to send her the same way as Palmer.

As with Clive Palmer, Pauline Hanson's weakness is her “my way or the highway” attitude.

She has no idea of how consensus politics works.

May the force be with them !

It's a damn shame Bernie didn't get in, he would have made America great again, but in a much better way than Trump.

It sounds like Pauline Hanson has taken another page from the Trump play book:

Discriminate again the media that don’t agree with you.

The ABC has demanded an explanation from Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party after its reporters were blocked from attending election celebrations on Saturday, describing the move as an attack on independent media.

ABC staff were locked out of a West Australian election night event in Perth, as a controversial preference deal with the Liberal Party and Senator Hanson's comments on vaccinations and praise for Russian president Vladimir Putin saw One Nation's message all but drowned out.

Other journalists, including a reporter from Fairfax Media, were allowed to attend the event, prompting ABC editorial director Alan Sunderland to ask why his staff had been singled out.

The Tax Office has been forced to admit it secretly handed sensitive employment details on its own workforce to a private firm in an attempt to voter-profile an all-staff industrial ballot.

The ATO covertly supplied its contractor with the names, email addresses, locations of work and pay grades of each of its 19000 employees without their knowledge or consent.

Who runs the ATO these days?

Former members of the East German Stasi ?

Shouldn't this reach further than to the three individuals mentioned ? Surely it must involve the whole government. That they would do such a thing when cyber security is given such emphasis is totally unacceptable and they deserve to be sued by the entire staff for breach of privacy.

I'm not sure how long they would have a job if they did sue.

A class action? How would the government function, get the money they need, with no civil servants to do their bidding?

Australia's business leaders and biggest corporations are being bullied by activist groups into supporting same-sex marriage laws, Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said on Friday.

If anyone knows about being a bully it would be Peter Dutton.

Just ask the refugees on Manus Island and Nauru.
