Turnbull appoints a mate as ABC chairman.

NBN board member and former Telstra executive Justin Milne is expected to be appointed the new chair of the ABC by the Turnbull government later this week.

Mr Milne will succeed former NSW chief justice James Spigelman in the prestigious role when his five-year term officially expires at the end of the month.

Mr Milne has been a long-time friend of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull since they worked together at internet service provider Ozemail in the 1990s.

Look on the bright side folks, Abbott would have given the job to Andrew Bolt.

Nice to know the best person for the job was appointed and not just "jobs for the boys".  ;)

'Better de-horned than dead' – Zoo chops rhino horns to foil poachers.

A Czech zoo has started to remove the horns from its 21 rhinos as a precaution after the recent killing of a rhinoceros at a wildlife park in France by assailants who stole the animal’s horn.

With rhino horns considered a wonder cure in Asia – for everything from cancer, colds and fevers to high blood pressure, hangovers, impotence and other ailments – poachers have killed thousands of the animals in Africa and elsewhere.

Animals killed because of people believing myths that have no scientific basis.

Sounds a bit like religious conflicts doesn’t it?

Religious conflicts or not, it all comes down to money which the poachers will get from those who will dispense the precious commodity in small doses, along with other animal parts, to the believers in the nonsense who have no concern for the welfare of the poor animals.

I think that Turnbull and Frydenberg should be sent this article.  It certainly puts the current Australian Government's energy policy to shame:

Mark Latham sacked by Sky News after calling school student 'gay'

Latham has proved that not everyone mellows with age.

He lost the plot after losing the election to John Howard, and has progressively got worse.

Hang on, I'll just book a return helicopter flight to your workplace to give you an answer. I'll claim the expenses on my next tax return. I should be there in 30 minutes.  ;)

US Senator John McCain riles North Korea by calling Kim Jong-un a 'crazy fat kid'

McCain told MSNBC's Greta van Susteren in an interview on March 22 that the "crazy fat kid that's running North Korea" is far worse than some of history's worst dictators.

"He's not rational, Greta," he said. "We're not dealing even with someone like Joseph Stalin, who had a certain rationality to his barbarity."

I think that McCain is spot on.  8)

Yes McCain is absolutely correct. I really don't know why all his generals put up with him, they must be as bonkers as he is.

All it would take is one bullet.

Yes, you would think that there is at least one Claus von Stauffenberg among them.

Malcolm Turnbull has stared down the right-wing of his own party which has hamstrung his leadership and asserted that the Liberals should be the party of the "sensible centre".

Now please remember that it is April Fools Day.   :/

Sydney shock jock Ray Hadley has spectacularly banned long-time guest Scott Morrison from his radio program after the Treasurer stood Hadley up for an interview with the ABC.

Hadley unloaded on Mr Morrison on Monday, accusing him of lying, being "boring" and treating him "like an idiot".

Hadley has a much friendlier relationship with Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, to whom he speaks every Thursday and has overtaken Mr Morrison in the eyes of many conservatives as their standard bearer.

Does anybody actually listen to Hadley’s radio show?

I can’t imagine many more boring ways to waste a morning.

Barnaby has been pushing this line for some time, but there is a major flaw.

Who is going to employ me if I move to Tamworth or another regional city?
