they should have had a female writer as well. men trying to write the role of female sounds like a sexist disaster to me.

I don't think the gender of the writer matters, the main thing is to write good stories. I only saw the first half of the series and it was rubbish, very disappointing. From what I heard from lots of other Whovians, the 2nd half of the series was not much of an improvement. It's okay to experiment with the show in an attempt to attract a bigger audience but, in doing so, you don't neglect the loyal fans. In reading lots of posts online and speaking to people in my social circle, it's mostly the loyal long-term Whovians who have walked away this year, including me, and that's a shame. I've been listening to the Big Finish audio plays over the last few years, which have been great. I will continue to listen to new plays as long as they are good scripts and performances, but it's going to take a lot to lure me back to the tv show. It's lost its way, much like in the late 1980s. But it can be put back on track again with a regeneration of the show and the cast, but I know that won't be happening in time for 2020. Wake me up when the 14th Doctor and a new head writer come along.

My top three were and still are: Peter Capaldi Sylvester McCoy David Tennant (though Peter Davison and Christopher Ecclston come close). As for the notion of female writers for a female Doctor - they did have some (two) female writers for this series, but it didn't help (IMO).

Thanks KRSPDS. Merry Christmas to you too! Hope you and your family had a good one yesterday. It was great to see the ABC look after Aussie Whovians last night by showing Twice Upon a Time.

They probably seem a bit corny now to some. They could do with an upgrade from ZX80 to Pentium

Dr who has the same problem as microsoft windows developers. it has to be backwards compatible with previous versions. They can't start with a blank sheet of paper. Like a rock singer being asked to keep singing their hit from 20 years ago. anyway, Borg vs Daleks which is the better villain. borg by a country mile. just sayin... weeping angels were the most innovative villain i have seen for a while.
