Happy Birthday Bill !

I didn't see many of his episodes unfortunately, the first Doctor I can remember was Patrick Troughton.

I've seen them all, from William Hartnell to Peter Capaldi.

Let's declare Hartnell's birthday an international holiday.  :)

Heads up 'the orville' is back on SBS tonight.

it's sci fi.

On your recommendation I just bought Series 1 of The Orville on DVD.

Nice and quirky I'm quite enjoying it.

Thanks for the recco.:)

yes, i quite like. at first glance it's a startrek copy, but manages to carve out it's own niche.

Just when you think every sci fi niche has been occupied something new comes along.

The viewers' verdict of Resolution (from DWTV): This is not the worst scoring Dalek story, but it is not much better. It only manages to beat Victory of the Daleks and the Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks two-parter. http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/your-verdict-on-resolution-not-the-worst-scoring-dalek-story-but-not-much-better-90306.htm

so who was the first sci fi show to invent 'gangers'or duplicates?

just looking at an ep of startrek voyager with captain janeway.

Crew and ship discover they are 'bio nemitic' organisms, copies like the gangers.

startrek voyager ran from 1995 to 2001.

I never got into Voyager but I believe Patrick Stewaet is making another Jean Luc Picard Star Trek series, but not on the same timeline as The Next Generation.

Back in the 60's Lost in Space had a couple of shows featuring duplicates.

Rumpole is right. The Lost in space ep was called "the phantom family" and it aired on 29th march 1967.

"While John and Maureen are away observing volcanic activity, the alien scientist Lemnoc captures Don, Judy, Penny, and Dr. Smith and replaces them with android duplicates. Lemnoc then forces Will and the Robot to train the duplicates in survival skills, hoping that they will be an inspiration to his own people, who are losing the will to live. "

There were also "The Anti Matter Man" where Robinson and West were replaced by their anti Matter duplicates, and

"Target Earth" where the whole family was replaced with duplicates and attempted to invade earth,

Pretty sure there were episodes with "duplicates" in the original Twilight Zone series (early '60s).

There was a Twilight Zone episode called 'Mirror Image':

A young woman named Millicent Barnes is waiting in a bus depot in Marathon, New York, for a bus to Cortland, en route to a new job. Looking at a wall clock she notices the bus is late. She walks up to the ticket counter to ask the ticket agent when the bus will arrive, and he gruffly complains that this is her third time asking.

Cue spooky music...:-)
