I'm predicting that ScoMo will become the next leader of the Liberal Party.  He'll make Dutton Foreign Minister or Ambassador to the US (once Hockey's term of office is over) to stave off any challenge.  I think the Libs will see ScoMo as a more effective Opposition Leader than Dutton, he's got a big mouth like a spruiker, whereas every time Dutton opens his mouth he looks and sounds like a bent detective from the Underbelly TV series.

I think Dutton is politically savvy enough to challenge for the leadership of the LP after the next election when, I agree with you, the party will be in opposition.  But I think ScoMo is crazy and ambitiious enough to challenge Turnbull for the PMship before the next election, especially if the 30th poll in a row still shows the LP lagging in the polls. 

On that other subject of the day, it's incredible that George went into the NP party room this morning thinking that he could become Deputy PM.

I think Barnaby will need to resign from parliament altogether.  While he's still there, there's always going to be media speculation that McCormack is just keeping the seat warm for Joyce's return from the sin bin.

I couldn't help thinking when listening to Michael McCormack and Bridget McKenzie speak to the press after this morning's NP meeting, that Mckenzie sounded more like a party leader than McCormack.

I doubt if George actually thought he could win. He just wanted to have a say about his own particular brand of  "nationalism". I actually think that he is closer in philosophy to Cory Bernadi and  is therefore a defection possibility.
